About the Event
Hear from HANYS’ health insurance and managed care legal advisors Jeff Gold and Victoria Aufiero as they provide updated legislative information that impact utilization management, managed care and revenue cycle functions. These updates include; Suspension of Preauth Requirements for Scheduled Surgeries or Admissions, Suspension of Concurrent Review for Inpatient Hospital Services & Retrospective Reviews for Inpatient, Hospital Services & Emergency Services at In-Network Hospitals, Hospital Discharge Planning & Preauth for Home Health Care & Inpatient Rehabilitation; etc. This program is a must for utilization management, revenue cycle and managed care staff.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Jeffrey Gold, Esq. - Senior Vice President and Special Counsel, Insurance and Managed Care
Jeff Gold works with the payer community, state and federal regulators, and New York State government to address provider issues related to managed care. Mr. Gold has drafted, negotiated, and helped secure major packages of managed care reform legislation that impact external appeals, administrative denials, claims processing, and payer practices. He designed HANYS’ highly regarded Managed Care SWAT Training program and coaches hospitals on claims denial management and contract negotiation. Before joining HANYS in 2000, Mr. Gold was Special Counsel for Health Care to the New York State Attorney General. Mr. Gold served four Attorneys General in New York and was the founding Chief of New York’s Health Care Bureau. Previously, he worked at two private law firms in New York City, with a focus on civil litigation. Mr. Gold has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School.
Victoria Aufiero, Esq. - Senior Director, Insurance, Managed Care, and Behavioral Health
Ms. Aufiero coordinates, formulates, and assists in the leadership of advocacy strategies and policies related to insurance, managed care, and behavioral health. She collaborates directly with HANYS' members and advocates on their behalf with regulators, lawmakers, and policy leaders. She provides denials management training, develops strategies for members in their issues with payers, and identifies solutions through best practices, confronting health plans, or developing legislation. In addition, she leads HANYS’ behavioral health agenda, including a priority issue of complex case discharge delays, and leads the HANYS Behavioral Health Task Force, which helps shape HANYS’ behavioral health policy agenda.
